A Saturday well wasted.

My roommates and I, we are more than a little obsessed with weddings.
Last month, we attended the bridal fair at Provo High.
While there, we signed up for several drawings.
I signed up for one at David's Bridal. It turned out that I was simultaneously signing up for an appointment to try on wedding gowns.
The other day they called me to confirm, and I, being the pushover that I am, could not stand to tell them that I am not only not interested in buying any of their dresses, but that I am not even, in fact, engaged.
So I confirmed.
Awkward.
Today my roommates accompanied me to my wedding dress appointment.

Long story short, it went something like this.

P.S. My dream wedding dress is not at David's Bridal.
P.S.S. What the heck Utah? You call this February? I haven't been snowboarding once this year.
P.S.S.S. Insanity kicks my butt. And my complaints about it are bragging in disguise.

Sorry St. Valentine :(

As much as I really wanted to bah-humbug this dumb holiday, I can't after today. Anyone who read my post a year ago knows why Valentine's Day has never exactly been my favorite holiday, and even though I had planned to really try to get festive and fun with it this year and try to enjoy and appreciate it, yesterday rolled around and I just didn't want to deal with it. (As much as he COMPLETELY deserves it for being the best boyfriend in the whole wide world) I was stressed out about being under so much pressure to do something for Ryan and I didn't know how I was gonna make it happen. It came to the point that I decided I wasn't going to do anything and I would surprise Ryan with something some other time when it WASN'T demanded of me.

But then, I woke up to this
It took me a few minutes after waking up to realize that I had not, in fact, spilled or broken something in my sleep, but that there were rose petals on my floor directing me to a very sweet, happy surprise downstairs. Silly, cheesy, and totally perfect. It wasn't so much that it made me feel like a terrible girlfriend in comparison, and it was just enough to make me melt.
And as I spent my day trying to figure out last minute how to prove to him that I absolutely adore him and that his little gestures mean the world to me, I started to feel bad that I also neglected to express my love for all of the other people in my life who are so, so important to me, who also deserve to be celebrated. My roommates, my family, the people I work with. I think they all know they are special to me, but of course they deserve to be actually shown that once in awhile. I know this post is probably too little too late, but I hope those people who are close to me and with whom I spend most of my time know that I appreciate so much everything you do for me, and the love you have for me, because it has made such a difference in my life.
In the end, I decided to make the best of the time I had left to express my affection to my incredible significant other, and enlisted some help from good friend Braxton to sneak balloons, chocolates, and a love poem I wrote for him into his house. The surprise didn't go quite as smoothly as I would have liked, but the night turned out really good anyway :)

On my honor, I will not take Valentine's Day for granted next year! I love you all, and I hope your day was as happy as mine was.

A wee little update

What have I been up to the past few weeks?
Oh, ya know. Just excelling academically.
Also the roommates and I have been working on lifting and shaping our rears via the Brazil Butt Lift program. It was going well up until my boyfriend got me sick with a cold, which I'm expecting to put me out of commission for at least another week.
This explains why I have no cute pictures of the two of us, because neither of us have been particularly attractive lately. We are adorably sick and unattractive together.
Been staying up late and having long, insightful talks about the world with the people I love the most.
Annnnd continuing my quest for details to complete my perfect future wedding. Am I engaged? No. No, Okay? No I'm not. But it never hurt anybody to plan ahead, especially since my apartment managers thought it would be cute to block Pinterest, thus hindering my marriage planning significantly. It's a problem.

Tis the season..

I better do this now before I have to go back to school and again have NO time.
Winter break has been superb.
I got to lounge around and be absolutely useless. This is something I have really been missing since after Thanksgiving.
We spent the weekend immediately after school got out at my parents' house. And by 'we,' I mean Ryan and I. We went indoor skydiving with the fam (pics later). Pretty fun, but also wildly more expensive than the experience worth, in my opinion. Also we spent at least an hour in Brookstone trying out this massage chair. Hey, after finals week, we earned it.
Tuesday, we drove 12 hours to El Paso for 5 days of Christmas festivities. It was wonderful.
We went Christmas shopping, where our time was used very efficiently..

This is a habit of mine.
Ryan insisted on buying these suitcoats for himself. I may insist on using them for kindling.
We played Just Dance. I lost..
We ate. We ate a TON. We ate stuff like this
I played White Elephant for the first and second time!
I won a baby!! Ha. Just kidding. Seriously though
Cutest.

Baby.

Ever.
His family was so generous in including me in their celebration of the birth of our Savior and I am so beyond grateful. I had an amazing time!!
We drove to Colorado for 3 days to catch up with my dear friends, during which we ate. Watched Season 1 of Smallville. Went to Zoolights.
fishie :)

Bats.
Did more Christmas shopping.
Oh yeah, about that..
Hey, in my defense, I had to have the sweats on that mannequin and they were the only pair of their kind.
Oh, and we ate.
This is when we got $35 worth of Philly Cheesesteaks and wings for only $10. The meal was fairly average and frankly overpriced if we hadn't had a discount, but we still had leftovers to munch on for the ride home.
Now we're back in Utah celebrating the Christmas that I missed with my family and relishing the last few hours of break before we return to hectic college life. But I can't say I'm not looking forward to reuniting with my roommates. I really miss them.

By the way, I could really go for some snow.

Wanna see something crrrazy?!

My old friend slash love interest sent me a picture the other day wanting to know if it was me.
In case you forgot, this is what I look like (or did look like 3 months ago before I dyed my hair back to dark)
This is the picture I recieved

At first I was like,
Hey.. I don't own any University of Utah paraphernalia. I don't remember taking this picture.
And then I thought he had photoshopped my face in there
and I was like, 'aw Steve, you joker.'
But then I realized it wasn't me
but it almost was.
So let's go over this again.
Me:

Not me:

Kinda wild, am I right?
I guess it's a good thing she goes to the U cause I don't think there's enough room for two of me at this university.

Happy Turkey Day :)

Like every student, I savored last week's holiday as a much-needed break.
In fact, I got started early.
Instead of suffering through Monday and Tuesday classes, Ryan and I took off to Texas on Friday night. After several hold ups, we (Myself, Ryan, his sister Meagan, his cousin Jimmy, his cousin Brandon and his girlfriend, Allie) finally had the car packed and snacks bought, and were on the road just as the first real snowstorm of the year kicked up. 12.5 hours later, around 10 am, we arrived in sunny, WARM El Paso, Texas.

From there it was adventure after adventure.
Playing with Grandpa's knick-knacks while trying (and failing) to avoid being portrayed as unattractive to the entire facebooking world.

It's a whistle. Don't judge.

We worked it out. At a prison. Yeah.

We went to see Breaking Dawn with pretty much the entire extended fam. And Ryan inconsiderately laughed throughout the film.

The Twilight Saga can sure work up an appetite.. so we were treated to all-you-can-eat pizza afterward.

Ry taught me some lock-picking basics.

Focus on the successfully picked lock and not how terrible I look in this picture.

Did some shooting

..and went a little crazy

Haha actually that's just the face I made when I realized that shooting a shotgun kind of hurts.

Oh, and Ryan got some shots in too.
We went for a romantic, leisurely bike ride..

had an interesting 4-wheeling ride in the Rio Grande

Went running a coupla times, which I admittedly hated.

Got some desperately needed fresh air after Ryan introduced me to Chico's Tacos

The ride home was the least fun.. Ryan got motion sickness and looked like a zombie for pretty much the entire 12 hours. In his state of delusion, he forgot that we had stuck the cheese in the window so it could stay cool outside. He rolled down the window for some air and the cheese was no more.

Ryan's family were such wonderful hosts and I had the most amazing time. I cannot express enough my gratitude that I had the opportunity to spend the week with them. They gave me a lot more to be thankful for.

Still, it didn't suck to come home to this!
